Monticello officer was arrested Thursday



MONTICELLO, San Juan County -- A Monticello Police sergeant was placed on administrative leave, Friday, following his arrest,Thursday, by the San Juan County Sheriff's Office.



Sgt. Cole Young was arrested following an altercation related to some personal matters. San Juan County Sheriff's Office is the investigating agency for the incident, but an internal review will also be conducted in the coming week. 



Sgt. Young has been cooperating with city staff during this process. 



The San Juan County Attorney's Office has the authority to issue charging documents which have been filed as criminal trespass in a dwelling and assault. 



It's never a happy time to see one of your officers arrested and placed on leave, but we will cooperate as a city with the appropriate investigators and processes to see that justice and fairness are served...
